Hi,
Think about your favorite doll for a moment. If you have it nearby, pick it up and hold it in your hand. Feel the texture of the body and clothing. Run your finger gently over the face and feel the details of the expression. Notice all the little things that make it so special to you.
No matter what material its made of, or how long ago it was created, a lot of thought, detailed work and love went into making it. A real person did that thinking and that careful work. A real person put the love into that doll and brought it to life for you.
Do you ever wonder who these wonderful people really are? What they're like? What they really think and feel? How they create the magic thats in the dolls we treasure so much?
I love wood dolls, and I love learning more about them and how they are made. I have decided to seek out and interview the worlds best doll carvers -- to learn their secrets -- to get a glimpse inside their world -- to try to understand as much as I can about how they fill their dolls with magic.
As a doll carver and collector, I want to know as much as I can about this wonderful activity. The more I learn, the more amazed I am, and the more I appreciate the dolls I have.
